About Ariana
My practice as an artist and printmaker allows me to explore my subconscious and connectedness to nature. My works are dissections that reveal hidden tendencies about my existence and spiritual learning through the use of freeform and instinctual mark making. I am continually captivated by natural composition and beauty and strive to capture what is often looked over. Light/shadow, reflection, and water are the main image markers of my work.

What is printmaking?
In general terms, it is a method of image creation that involves transferring an image from a non-porous surface (except in the case of screenprinting) to a porous surface such as paper or fabric. There are multiple methods of this versatile medium. The main forms of printmaking I utilize for my artwork are screenprints, monotypes, lithographs, and etchings.

Why printmaking?
This method of image creation is heavily process oriented, which leaves a lot of room for experimentation and forces close involvement with works which are important factors to the outcome of my pieces. The elemental and often unpredictable nature of printmaking is what draws me to its possibilities in mark creation. I am continually fascinated by its element of surprise, from creating an image on a plate to transferring it on to paper. One of my goals as an artist is to spread knowledge on this exciting medium through live demos and workshops.
